Welcome to Rond & Found, Grand Lac Rond’s first ever geocaching challenge!

​

We have hidden a series of secrets around the lake, inviting cottagers, families, and visitors to explore Grand Lac Rond in a whole new way. Whether you’re a first-time treasure hunter or an experienced geocacher, Rond & Found is all about adventure, discovery, and enjoying the natural beauty of our lake.

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt using GPS coordinates. Participants use a smartphone or GPS device to navigate to hidden containers called caches. Each cache contains a small logbook so you can record your find. Think of it as part scavenger hunt, part outdoor exploration, and part puzzle.

What You Need

To participate in Rond & Found, you’ll need:

• Access to a smart phone & internet

• The Rond and Found 2026 map (use satellite view)

• Comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear.

• Water, sunscreen, bug spray, and weather-appropriate gear.

• A pen or pencil for signing the logbooks.

• Binoculars (can really help!)

Your Mission

​

1. Choose a Cache to Search For
   Select one of the caches from the map. Carefully read the clue. NOTE: You can complete them in any order.

2. Navigate to the Area
   Use the cache map, etc. to reach the general location. It is rarely exact, so expect to search within a radius of several metres.

3. Search Carefully
   Caches are usually hidden in places that blend into the environment, such as: between rocks, under logs, near tree roots, behind natural cover, inside weatherproof containers. Look carefully—but respectfully. Please avoid damaging plants, disturbing wildlife, or moving large natural features. The caches have not been placed anywhere that requires disturbing the landscape (no digging, etc. required).

4. Found It? Sign the Log!

   When you locate a cache:

   • Open it carefully

   • Sign the logbook with your name and date

   • Make note of any clues for cracking the Treasure Cache!

5. Re-hide the Cache
   This is essential. Please return the cache exactly as you found it so the next participants can enjoy the challenge.

Complete the full Rond & Found route and earn ultimate bragging rights as one of Grand Lac Rond’s elite treasure hunters.

 

The ⭐ on the map are CODE CACHES that contain an extra clue to help you solve the TREASURE CACHE 🏁. 

 

All other caches ✔️are BONUS CACHES, if you want even more of a challenge.

Geocaching Etiquette:

Be Discreet

Try not to reveal cache locations to others.
Half the fun is in the hunt.

Respect Nature

Leave no trace.
Please do not: Break branches, dig holes, damage moss or plants, disturb wildlife habitats
This includes giving our loon families plenty of space.

Respect Property

Only search in permitted areas.
Do not enter private cottages, docks, or restricted areas unless clearly indicated.

Leave It Better

If you spot litter during your search, consider picking it up. Small acts help keep Grand Lac Rond beautiful.

Participation in Rond & Found is voluntary and undertaken at your own risk. By participating, individuals acknowledge that geocaching involves outdoor activity and may include uneven terrain, rocks, docks, trails, wooded areas, shoreline access, and water-related hazards. Participants are responsible for assessing their own abilities and exercising appropriate caution at all times. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Please respect weather conditions, wildlife, private property, and all posted restrictions. Do not attempt any cache that feels unsafe or beyond your comfort level. Grand Lac Rond Association and Rond & Found organizers are not responsible for injuries, accidents, lost or damaged property, or any incidents that may occur while participating in this activity.
